The Institute of Medical and Business Careers (IMBC) is pleased to announce a unique partnership with Erie’s ANNA Shelter to provide the Erie area and surrounding communities with well-trained, qualified veterinary technicians. The ANNA Shelter’s Director, Ruth Thompson, is excited to have qualified veterinary technicians to assist in training and caring for animals at one of the ANNA Shelter’s locations. IMBC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the ANNA Shelter allowing the use of their facilities as a learning environment for their program, Veterinary Technician Associate in Specialized Business Degree.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “employment of veterinary technologists and technicians is projected to grow 20 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.” Employment is expected to grow as veterinarians continue to utilize veterinary technicians to perform medical tests under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian to assist in diagnosing the injuries and illnesses of animals.
ANNA Shelter’s Director, Ruth Thompson, and IMBC’s President, Michael Euliano, agree this partnership will benefit the Erie community and simultaneously provide occupational training with a strong job outlook.
