The Programs

Even the most routine of healthcare interactions generates a significant amount of recorded data in the form of medical and patient records. And the more complex the situation, the more data is generated. Medical billing and coding specialists are responsible for transcribing, categorizing and managing this data for billing and reimbursement.

In IMBC’s medical billing and coding online courses, you’ll learn the terminology and reference codes used for reimbursement, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and PCS codes. You’ll also study office management, computer basics, medical terminology and anatomy and physiology. To ensure you’re ready to hit the ground running, you’ll also receive training in medical billing software as you learn how to complete, submit and resolve claims for CMS-1500 and UB04 forms.

Upon completing the program, you’ll be prepared to seek a medical coding certification, including sitting for the National Association for Health Professionals’ Nationally Registered Certified Coding Specialist (NRCCS) exam. The cost of the certification exam is paid for by IMBC, provided you qualify and meet the guidelines. Certification is not required for employment, but by validating your competencies, IMBC believes you will have a competitive advantage over non-certified job seekers.
