If you’re the type of person who has a natural connection with animals of all sorts, a career as a veterinary assistant might be right for you. From assisting with exams to procedures, vet assistants play a vital role in ensuring our four-legged friends stay happy and healthy.

About the Program

The program is structured on essential skills for veterinary assistants: office and hospital procedures, communication and client relations, pharmacy and pharmacology, examination room procedures, small animal nursing, surgical preparation and assisting, laboratory procedures, and radiography and ultrasound imaging. Students will learn to recognize behavioral signs and to assist with caring for a patient’s basic needs under the direction of a veterinarian or designate. Students will also learn soft skills for interacting with clients and the care team, such as effective communication, teamwork and cooperation, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills in a fast-paced setting.
