IMBC can train you for a job as a massage therapist in the growing health care fields of preventative health care, fitness, and stress management. Massage professionals can be found working with physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors, and other health care professionals in a wide range of medical/massage therapy facilities. Through clinical programs and lectures, you will learn everything from how to set up a massage room and drape clients to safety and sanitation issues and professional ethics. Our massage therapy program will give you an overview of anatomy and physiology of the human body as a basis for mastering various techniques, including Swedish massage, sport/athletic therapy, hydrotherapy, specialty massage therapy methods suitable for nursing homes, and various baths and treatments. You will come to recognize the medical and therapeutic value of a clinical massage.
Massage Therapy Training We offer practical experience in our fully equipped massage clinic, where you can master skills you have learned in the classroom as well as build up a clientele. We encourage you to spend extra time in the massage clinic, and that time counts toward the 90 percent attendance requirement. You may also be required to participate in on-site and off-site massage events and activities including health fairs, community fundraisers and community service.
Our faculty will prepare you to either become an entry-level massage therapist in the community, or to establish your own massage therapy business.
The Pennsylvania State Board of MT currently regulates licensure in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Law requires graduates who are seeking licensure to successfully pass the following examinations:
MBLEx (Massage Bodywork Licensing Examination) offered by the (FSMTB) Federation of State Massage Therapy Board.
