As a medical assistant, you will have a lot of interaction with patients; in most instances, you will be the first person they have contacta  within a healthcare facility. The following skills are essential for you and will be things that you will use throughout your career.

  1. Interpersonal Skills: As a medical assistant, you will have to interact with people from many backgrounds while carrying out your job duties. From patients to doctors, nurses and other medical staff, interpersonal skills will aid you in all interactions within this setting.
  2. Administrative Skills: As a medical assistant, you may be needed in a variety of areas. There may be a need for you to perform duties in the administrative field; those may include processing insurance forms, identifying suppliers that are used, placing supply orders and inputting test result data. Being able to inform a patient about a procedure or put medical terminology into layman’s terms is a skill you should have.   8. Attention to Detail: Keenness is required as a medical assistant. It is of high importance that you pay attention to details. You don’t want to make an error of any kind when you are in this field.
